Julie is a woven textiles designer who joined the University in 1991 as a PhD researcher designing woven textile composites for aerospace engineering. Working across all year groups performing a variety of academic roles, Julie teaches both creative practice and technical design for woven textiles and specialises in the analysis, properties and functionality of fabrics for fashion, interior and industrial uses. She is also involved with the professional development of graduate profiles and online portfolios.
Julie has an active role conducting and managing International collaborative research projects to develop bio-derived composite materials and textiles for construction. Her research contributes towards the University’s research excellence framework and is published internationally.
